Nuclear Decommissioning Market is Expected to Grow at CAGR 6.93 % by Forecast 2022 | Global Industry Key Players, Competitive Strategies, Size and Share by Brands

Global Nuclear Decommissioning Market Overview:-

Nuclear Decommissioning process refers to the shutting down of the reactor and the demolishing of the power plants, making it available for some other use. Nuclear power plants generally have a limited life of around 55 years. However, recent technological advancements have proven to be useful in refurbishing them to run well beyond this allowing a substantial grace period.

Nuclear Decommissioning towards the end of life production accentuates on the elimination of radioactive elements that are time intensive and hazardous to the environment; thus protecting the ecosystem. Worldwide there are about 150 shutdown reactors; out of which around 17 were due to be decommissioned entirely on the war front by 2016. These statics presages the potential opportunities the Nuclear Decommissioning Market will garner during the forecast period.

Recognizing the growth potential, the market demonstrates currently, Market Research Future (MRFR) in its recently published study report, states that the global Nuclear Decommission Market is expected to witness a significant growth by 2022 registering over 6% CAGR during the forecast period (2017 – 2022).

Industry/ Innovation/ Related News:

January 08, 2018 – Canadian federal and provincial authorities announced the completion of the technical assessment of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ (CNL’s) draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the proposed in-situ decommissioning of White-shell Reactor 1 (WR-1). The CNL mentioned that at the time the reactor was shut down, deferred decommissioning was the preferred strategy for the management of the main reactor building. The reactor was, therefore, defueled and has been maintained in a state of “storage with surveillance”.

January 16, 2018 – TWI (The Welding Institute – UK), a leading global research and technology organization published their study on utilizing lasers for the nuclear decommissioning. TWI, investigating the uses of lasers for remote nuclear decommissioning work, has successfully deployed the technology on two separate nuclear sites in the UK, with clear tangible cost and safety benefits.

According to the TWI – Laser cutting is an alternative remote thermal size reduction technology, which minimizes the complexity of deployment and secondary waste rising from the cutting process.

The technology is now being considered for size reduction of an active research reactor on a Magnox site.

January 22, 2018 – The Omaha Public Power District (OPPD – US) and Exelon Generation LLC which were partnered for the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station (FCS) in 2012; announced that the completion of their nuclear plant management project at FCS.
